Alpaca fleece is an exceptionally soft and durable fiber harvest from the beautiful coats of Alpaca. The luxurious fiber was known as “the fiber of the gods” to the Incas and is celebrated for its incredibly versatile nature.

Why use Alpaca?

In addition to the amazing shine of Alpaca fiber, it is used for its remarkably durability. The fiber has a remarkable tensile strength and is great for use in cushions. the fibers in alpaca velvet can be used in very high traffic area, like theater seating and still maintain their gorgeous loft.

Alpaca velvet, like La Scala from our Bella Rosa Collection is also in no way scratchy or prickly like sheep’s-wool. Because it does not contain lanolin, it is hypoallergenic for people with sensitivity to animal fibers like sheep’s wool or feathers. The very nature of this super-fiber’s structure deters the accumulation of dust mites, which are the leading causes of asthma and allergies in the bedroom. …And get this: Alpaca fibers are incredibly responsive to changes in temperature and depending on their treatment, can be used as an amazing insulator, keeping us warm all winter OR can be used to wick away moisture, keeping the body cool!

La Scala, the new alpaca velvet from Place, provides durability in an incredibly soft, dense fabric that will provide years of beautiful comfort in 11 gorgeously saturated colors!
